Sendai has gained global attention as the host city of the Third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction in 2015 and the G7 Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors’ Meeting in 2016.

The city has ideal venues for a variety of events,
Large-scale conventions: Sendai International Center
Urban conventions: City hotels
Resort-style conventions: Hot spring districts in Akiu and Sakunami

Sendai's MICE brand, “Resilience, Harmony and Inspiration”, conveys the harmony between culture and nature of our beautiful green city, and inspiration created through direct contact with nature experiences and expertise in disaster prevention and reconstruction after the unprecedented crisis of the Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred in 2011.

Sendai is closer to the World!

Sendai Airport is currently an international airport connecting four cities in the Asia Pacific region and eleven domestic airports. Since becoming Japan's first privatized airport in July 2016, every year the total number of fliers exceeds the previous year. From the 1st of July the long-awaited Sendai-Narita route will be increased to three round trips per day, making access to overseas and national destinations via Narita Airport more convenient. Taipei will also now be serviced daily from Sendai, and travelers can fly everyday regardless of their departure date. Sendai-Bangkok route, which has been suspended since November last year, is scheduled to be put back in service with three round trips a week. In addition to train service that runs between Airport and Sendai station for just 17minutes, Airport Limousine and flat-rate taxi service have begun its operation from this spring to accommodate the increasing users.

Miyagi Prefecture is subsidizing the expansion of new routes such as LCC, and Sendai Airport is expected to become even more convenient in the future.
